vadodara: violence claimed two morelives in city early morning on thursday. one truck driver was pulled out andkilled near kapurai chowkdi on nh-8 while another persons was stabbed to deathnear sadhnanagar society in karelibaug. an irate mob also attacked noted humanrights activist professor j s bandukwala''s house in sama. "about ten people cameon motorbikes, torched my car, broke the entrance gate and lobbed burning ragsand pelted stones at my house," professor bandukwala said. he said hisneighbours, belonging to hindu community, came out of their houses and pacifiedthe mob. "my neighbours took me and my family to safety", professor bandukwalasaid. unrest, meanwhile, kept spreading to other areas in city. angry mobspelted stones and set shops in mangalbazar area on fire. about five handcartsand a gsrtc bus in nizampura, a butchers shop in pratapnagar, edward laundry atmanjalpur naka and lucent electricals owned by one yakubbhai at indra complex inmanjalpur were also set ablaze. arson cases were also reported from gotrivillage, chhani and makarpura where lorries and cabins were set on fire. policehad to fire two teargas shells in gotri and 6 teargas shells in chhani todisperse mob. vehicles, apparently owned by minority community members, werealso torched at vinoba ashram. police also said that a mob tried to torch adargah priest at gotri village but the attempt was foiled and the priest wassafe. meanwhile, city police commissioner d d tuteja said a rapid action forcebattalion has been deployed.
